The new year marks two and a half years of blawging with a couple of years before that emailing the LawWire to nearly 2000 lawyers in the state.
Looking Back: In 2007 we had
- 150,000 visitors to the Kentucky Law Review/Blog site.
- In 2007, we exceeded 4000 actual posts.
- KLB has 425 subscribers to the site via email and RSS.
- One "theme" change for all the blawgs.
- Kentucky court report aka KYCases.com was in the top ten blawgs during December and has over 600 email subscribers!
- Louisville LawWire blawg was added to simply post the lawwires each week and nothing more.
- And all FREE for you. Much thanks to our volunteer editors who rarely require me to bring out the whips.
Looking ahead:
- Too much work for one pair of hands.
- Reduced posts in the form of separate commentary and opinions.
- Looking for some voluntary editors to shoulder the load at the Kentucky Law Blog and some lawyer digesters for the Kentucky Court Report. One per week? One per month? A couple per year regardless of the topic???
Resolutions:
These are separate and apart from the blawg but might have some impact as I try to accomplish the following:
- More time spent in daily devotionals and church.
- More time with wife and grandkids (and the kids too).
- More time at the gym - lose 10 per cent weight and resume running in the Mini each year.
- More patience with others and a little more compassion and understanding.
To that end, the Kentucky Court Report and the LawWire will stop with the 2008 minutes of posting the "Not To Be Published" Decisions. Last year due to time constraints, we quit digesting the NPO's but at least listed them with a few word topical description. However, there will be even less time, so the NPO's are found in the minutes and can be roughly figured out by names of the cases and courts whether they are criminal, family law, workers compensation, and insurance. Simply clicking on them and there you are.
The Kentucky Court Report will continue. It's strictly a content-driven blog which is very unique as it provides digests of each published appellate decision from COAKY and SCOKY. Plus the month argument schedules for COAKY and SCOKY are listed, with a SCOKY plus of links to the NKY brief banks and the COA decision from below. Discretionary review and immediate posts of the minutes will continue.
The Kentucky Court Report has been one of the top ten blawgs posted at Blawgsearch.com and although they do not have ALL the blawgs (legal blogs), they sure list a lot of them. Over 3000 blawgs! http://blawgsearch.justia.com/
I am humbled by the reception, and challenged by the acceptance of this blawg.
I am most appreciative of those lawyers who routinely digest decisions for us and would always welcome additional lawyers willing to digest just one per month or per week. You might not be able to shine the whole building with your work, but you can shine a light in one corner of one room so others might see.
Please consider adding your name to the list.
