The merit hiring scandals, the constant accusations flying between the Governor's office and the office of the attorney general, and the inability of state lawmakers to address serious issues in a timely fashion: No wonder Kentucky voters seem so unengaged this fall.

The Herald-Leader's endorsement of Tim Coleman over Stan Lee for the Republican nominee for Kentucky's Attorney General race contained a body-slam remark:
Lee is fundamentally an ideologue committed to pushing a social agenda. Although this paper often disagrees with him, that's an acceptable role for a representative.
An attorney general, however, is obligated to uphold, interpret and enforce the law, whether he agrees with it or not, something we're not convinced Lee could or would do.
Ouch.
And remember Stan's earlier remarks about a Democrat contender for the post and the moustache metaphor? 2007 AG Race: Stan Lee's Moustache. It may be that he should have focused more on the primary than the general election. Without the republican nomination in your pocket, it matters not who the democratic challenger is!
