McKnight's Long-Term Care News (7/6, Newman) reports, "Citing the state's lack of tort reform, a major nursing home chain has announced that it is leaving Kentucky. Extendicare Health Services will lease all its 21 nursing homes in Kentucky to a Texas-based provider, which was not disclosed as of press time." The story quotes Tim Lukenda, president and CEO of Extendicare REIT, as saying, "Within the last year, we saw that things were getting worse, not better."
