The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy (DPA) needs experienced criminal attorneys interested in leading offices or regions and developing people and teams to meet their full potential. Through the DPA, the Commonwealth of Kentucky ensures the constitutionally-mandated representation of its poor and most vulnerable citizens accused of crimes.
During fiscal year 2008-09, the DPA provided representation in 148,257 cases in all 120 Kentucky counties to persons who would not otherwise have had an attorney. Although the caseloads vary by office, the mix is, on average, fairly consistent in all 30 offices spread across the Commonwealth. Of the 145,812 cases handled in FY 2008, 22 percent were Circuit Court cases, 59 percent were handled in Adult District Courts, and 16 percent were Juvenile cases.
Individuals interested in public service or finding a rewarding, fulfilling job are urged to contact Patti Heying at the Ky. Department of Public Advocacy, 502-564-8006 no later than November 30, 2009.
