Every time there are confirmation hearings for a new Supreme Court justice, there is renewed interest (at least on the media’s part) in the confirmation hearings of Brandeis. The Brandeis nomination set the standard for contentious confirmation hearings. Brandeis was nominated by Wilson on January 28, 1916. Brandeis was not confirmed until June 1, over 5 months later.
