Ky Law Schools: U of L Law School Changes Name of Law Review AND Plans Symposium on Jan. 18, 2008 regarding SCOTUS Decision on local school desegregation case

Louisville, Ky. - On May 20, 2007, the student-run editorial board of the law school's general interest journal elected to change the publication's name from  Brandeis Law Journal to the University of Louisville Law Review. 2007-2008 editor in chief Tony Zelli explained the decision: "Changing the name to incorporate the University of Louisville allows us to capitalize on the well-recognized UofL brand, which will increase the visibility of the law review throughout the rest of the country."

While the name of the publication has changed, the students' commitment to Justice Louis D. Brandeis has not wavered. The editorial board has developed a symposium in his honor. The symposium will be held January 18, 2008, and will consider Meredith v. Jefferson County Board of Education, which was decided on June 28, 2007. The symposium will include speakers from both law and education. Zelli sees such a program as a better way to honor Justice Brandeis, "implementing his vision of merging social issues with the law, and promoting learning across a broad spectrum of academic disciplines."

Additional information on the symposium is available on Louisville Law's website, www.law.louisville.edu .
