REPOST: Court TV anchor to speak at Harlan Lecture on Oct. 17 at Seelbach Hotel

Fred Graham, chief anchor and managing editor of Court TV, will speak at the annual Harlan Lecture and Alumni Banquet of the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law on Oct. 17 at the Seelbach Hotel.
The lecture and banquet will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. Dinner and the program will follow at 6:30 p.m.
Graham, who will discuss the relationship between media and the law, has had a varied career as lawyer and journalist. He has been anchor and correspondent for CBS news, commentator and senior editor for ABC’s Nashville affiliate and Supreme Court correspondent for the New York Times.
In addition, he served as special assistant to U.S. Secretary of Labor W. Willard Wirtz and was deputy chief counsel of the President’s Commission on Equal Employment Opportunity.
Also at the event, the law school will present 10 awards for distinguished contributions to the law school and the profession. Recipients include:

- Carl Henlein, special counsel, Frost Brown Todd
- Reba Page, administrative judge, U.S. Department of Defense

- Kathy Thompson, senior executive vice president and manager, Stock Yards Bank & Trust Co.
- Steve Trager, chairman and CEO, Republic Bank
- Ken Brown, senior trial attorney, Louisville area office, EEOC
- Barbara Lewis, law school professor
- Louisville Bar Association
The Harlan Lecture, named for U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan, a Kentucky native, and banquet are open to the public at a cost of $60 a person, but advance reservations are required by Oct. 10. For more information, call Simone Beach, 502-852-6366.
