Lawyers, Are You Looking For Ways to Help Others? Here are a few.

In the September 2005 issue of the Louisville Bar Briefs, I noted several articles looking for good lawyers to perform some good works.  Here they are briefly:

  • Run for an elected LBA office (president elect, vice president - treasurer, or secretary).  Deadline is November 1 and you need ten LBA members to sign your petition.
  • Volunteer for the "Law Day in School" program which visits middle-school classrooms in Nov. and Dec.   Topics are: What Lawyers Do; Students and the Bill of Rights; and How Courts Work.  Call Cindy Robinson at LBA @ 583-5314.
  • Give Blood on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Jefferson County Judicial Center from 11:00 to 4 p.m.  The office with the highest number of participants gets a plaque.
  • Participate in the Judicial Evaluation Poll beginning in September.  Complete the forms that are sent to you.  If you don't get one by Sept. 9, then call the LBA at 583-5314.
  • The Judge Ellen B. Ewing Foundation's "Battle of the Bands" competition is scheduled for SEPTEMBER 22.  The bands all have at least one lawyer in their ranks.  If your band has a lawyer in it, then sign up and compete.  If you just like to see a lawyer rocking at the PHOENIX HILL ROOF TOP GARDEN, then show up at the Hill.  Performances begin at 6:00 p.m., and the cost is $25 ($10 for students with an ID).  The money benefits the "Judge Ellen B. Ewing Law Internship in Public Service."
